New Owner for Kilnwood Pottery Studio, Uckfield

Sue spoke to Jane Devay, new owner of Kilnwood Pottery Painting Studio, Uckfield

What led you to take over Kilnwood Studio?

Previously I worked for Forest Lodge care home. A family member mentioned that Kilnwood Studio were planning to move on, due to a change in family circumstances. So I took the opportunity to change direction and give it a try.

Owner Jane said, “although I don’t have an arty background, I don’t think this is necessary to run a good business and make it work. Since we have taken over the studio it has been clear that both kids and adults alike love pottery painting.”

No changes have been made to the studio, apart from a few tweaks. They still offer a wide range of pottery items for both adults and children. The most popular items for painting are plates and animals and Jane will place orders for specific items if required.

Jane said that it was more about the pottery painting ‘experience’ than just the end product. Everyone finds it very relaxing and friendly. Parents and grandparents often bring their children and grandchildren. Pottery painting is about creating something unusual, original and often personal to the individual.

Kilnwood Studios will be open for Uckfield Late Night Shopping. See the article here
