Darwin House, Abbeyfield Crowborough, celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.
Unlike many residential homes, Darwin House in Crowborough, East Sussex, is a small (only 9 rooms) very friendly and homely facility, providing independent living for the elderly. It enables them to enjoy later life without the usual responsibilities of owning their own home. It is also very conveniently situated for local doctors, dentists, hairdresser and shops. Local buses stop regularly nearby and the main line railway station is a few minutes walk away, making it very easy for relatives or friends to visit.
Residents have the opportunity for friendship and companionship during mealtimes in their light and airy dining room, where the cook provides healthy and nutritious meals 7 days a week.
There is also a laundry facility on site, so residents don’t have to worry about their washing.
Darwin House also hosts several craft and other classes and is always open to other suggestions.
